31 Frights #5: MAY [2002]

Low-budget horror is mostly a cesspool few emerge from, but there’s a welcome respite in Lucky McKee’s morbidly poignant debut film, anchored by an extraordinary performance by Angela Bettis as a lonely, fragile girl who just wants to make a friend – even if it takes a few different people to make one.
